one minute you’re letting the dust gather on the digital piano; another minute, you’re getting married and taking a picture of your refreshingly non-diamond, rose de france amethyst engagement ring on said dusty digital piano.

Since starting this new gig at Markets Media, I’ve spent every day marveling at how (expletive)-ly lucky I am. After all, if work consists of experiencing, writing about, and photographing the utmost that human craftsmanship has to offer…then long may I live to work every day.

stopping to turn to her friend, the lady on the right jabbed the air upwards with her finger and, in a thick New York accent:

“and then do you know what i said? i said rosemary. rosemary, you want legal advice? you need more than legal advice.”

her friend nodded in murmured agreement, and then they continued on down the street, two shrunken, hunched figures with sharp voices and equally sharp opinions.

After a brief yet gorgeously rainy, fogswept drive up the Hudson, we arrived at the Pig Hill Inn and stayed in their lovely Tranquility Room. Sigh. You should go. Just not on the dates we plan on being there (again).

broaden your horizon. the more things you love, the more you are interested in, the more you enjoy, the more you are indignant about, the more you have left when anything happens. ethel barrymore

we’re burger freaks. tonight, our homemade masterpiece consists of a pat lafrieda patty cooked rare, creamy fresh gorgonzola melted on top, and caramelized red onions, all on a toasted brioche bun.

at the top of bear mountain, there are seemingly endless vistas of green forest. and if you squint, you might even see the tops of Manhattan’s skyscrapers.

[big ups to chelsea for taking the camera and shooting some nice ones! i never have pictures taken of me…]

the sun shone, the foothills beckoned, and two english boys took their ladies for a ride in the new york countryside.
